FRIDAY WEATHER: Rain will become possible this afternoon and remain likely throughout the weekend, as a cold front stalls out just to our north and provides a trigger for showers and thunderstorms over the next several days.
Although this system is close at hand, the exact evolution of the setup remains very uncertain. Coverage is likely to be scattered enough today that not everyone seems much rain. However, it’s going to be difficult to predict who sees what, or when. As a rule, it appears that rain chances will begin by early this afternoon and continue through the evening. Tonight’s high school football games at Oneida and Scott High could be impacted by rain.
Rain chances are slightly more likely tonight than today, and then slightly more likely tomorrow than tonight. Rain will remain likely on Sunday. It appears that anywhere from half an inch to 1.5 inches of rain will be possible over the next three days, with the best chances for appreciable rainfall being found just to our east. As for temperatures, we’ll be in the mid 80s today, then only in the mid 70s the next couple of days.
NEXT WEEK: Dry weather returns Monday, along with very nice temperatures. We’ll only be about 73 degrees Monday and we’ll drop into the mid 40s Monday night. A warming trend will begin almost immediately, but the temperature increase will be gradual. We may not get quite back to 80 degrees next week, although Thursday and Friday will likely be close. Another cold front is possible next weekend, which could bring rain chances and another round of cooler temperatures.
TROPICAL OUTLOOK: The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay remain several hundred miles southeast of Bermuda, and there’s a slim chance that they could redevelop into a tropical cyclone over the next several days. However, this system is still not a threat to the U.S. mainland. Otherwise, tropical storm formation isn’t expected over the next week.
