MONDAY WEATHER: đŠī¸ Thunderstorms remain likely for one more day before we settle back into a more typical summertime pattern. There’s a 70% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Otherwise, we’ll top out around 80 degrees once again. Thunderstorms will taper off after sunset with clearing skies and temperatures dropping to around 65 degrees.
THE REST OF THE WEEK: Warming temperatures and slight chances of thunderstorms will be the story for the rest of this week. We’ll see temperatures gradually warm into the upper 80s by later in the week, with a 20% to 30% chance of thunderstorms each afternoon. Otherwise, we’ll be mostly sunny each day. This is a very typical summertime pattern for our area.
THE WEEKEND: The same pattern that’s with us this week will stay with us through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s with slight chances of afternoon thunderstorms. This is a typical dog-day forecast — boring for some, fantastic for those who like pool and lake weather.
FURTHER OUT: Late July and early August are looking somewhat cooler and somewhat wetter. We’ll see how the pattern shapes up between now and then.
RIVER CONDITIONS: Streamflows are well above average for this time of year. The Big South Fork River was flowing around 1,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) late yesterday (normal is just above 250 cfs). Clear Fork was flowing around 850 cfs (normal is about 50 cfs). Water clarity is poor and water temperatures are in the low to mid 70s during the peak of afternoon heating. Conditions aren’t conducive for river swimming right now.
