MONDAY WEATHER: 🌦️ We’ll top out around 86 degrees today with a 40% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. The storms will be hit-or-miss and more people won’t see storms than will — a pretty typical summer day.
There’s a more organized chance for thunderstorms tomorrow as a cold front approaches the region. The best chance of storms will be overnight. There’ll be a Slight Risk of severe weather tomorrow night, primarily in the form of damaging wind gusts. Temperatures will continue to be in the mid to upper 80s tomorrow and Wednesday.
We’ll see more comfortable, drier weather to end the week, with temperatures topping out only around 80 degrees on Thursday, in the aftermath of the cold front.
THE WEEKEND: A slight chance of thunderstorms will return by Saturday, as temperatures push back into the mid 80s. More of the same can be expected Sunday, as we experience a very typical summer weekend.
FURTHER OUT: A heat dome will be centered over the middle of the nation next week, with temperatures closer to normal here in our area. The pattern for the remainder of July and into August looks very normal for this time of year — hot but not extremely so; wet but not extremely so. Dog days weather is upon us.
RIVER CONDITIONS: Above-average streamflows continue. The Big South Fork River is flowing near 800 cubic feet per second (cfs), and Clear Fork around 200 cfs. Water temperatures are topping out around 78 degrees during the peak of afternoon heating, and water clarity is fair.
