Oneida’s Long John Silver’s to open Sunday

ONEIDA | Scott County’s newest fast food restaurant will officially open for business Sunday morning.

Long John Silver’s, located at the Oneida Plaza shopping center, will hold a grand-opening event on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m., officially marking its opening as Scott County’s newest eatery. Sunday’s event will follow a limited invite “friends and family” soft opening on Saturday.

Located adjacent to McDonald’s, Long John Silver’s will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

The opening comes months after construction began on the new standalone restaurant, which is Long John Silver’s second location in Scott County. The first, located in the Scott County Food Court, closed several years ago. The project was initially expected to open in August but was completed ahead of schedule.

The new restaurant brings Long John Silver’s signature menu of hand-battered wild-caught Alaskan pollack, shrimp, chicken, hush puppies and other seafood favorites to Oneida, eliminating the need for local residents to travel to communities such as Williamsburg, Oak Ridge or Knoxville for the chain’s offerings.

The opening continues a period of significant commercial growth in Oneida. The Long John Silver’s restaurant joins a growing list of new businesses that have recently opened or are under development, including Casey’s, Polo’s Italian Restaurant, additional retail development at Oneida Plaza, and future plans for Zaxby’s and Dairy Queen.
