TUESDAY WEATHER: ☀️ Hot, dry conditions will continue today. We’ll top out around 92° with a heat index near 100°. Winds will be calm. Tonight, we’ll drop to around 72° with calm winds.
THE REST OF THE WEEK: It’s going to get hotter before it gets cooler. We’ll top out around 94° tomorrow and around 95° on Thursday. The good news is that there will be slight chances of thunderstorms beginning Thursday.
THE WEEKEND: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will feature temperatures in the low 90s with mostly sunny skies and slight chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. These chances will range from about 30% on Friday to 40% on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will back off ever so slightly on Sunday.
FURTHER OUT: Above-average temperatures will continue through next week, but we should also see better rain chances next week. This same pattern may persist throughout much of July.
RIVER CONDITIONS: The Big South Fork River crested at 37,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) yesterday, a record for the date. It is still flowing well above normal, above 5,000 cfs as of Monday evening. (Normal for this time of year is about 300 cfs.) Water clarity is poor. Water temperatures have dropped back into the low 70s. It will be a few days before river conditions are suitable for swimming. However, conditions will gradually become more favorable for recreational paddling over the next few days.
