TUESDAY WEATHER: After a pleasant Monday, our heat and humidity will begin to rebuild today, and our bone-dry weather will continue. We’re expecting a high of about 86 today under mostly sunny skies, dropping to 65 overnight. Tomorrow will see temperatures approaching 90 degrees.

THE NEXT RAIN CHANCE: We’ll see a return of rain chances Thursday afternoon and continuing through Friday, as a weak cold front approaches the region. Thursday’s rain chance will be accompanied by breezy conditions, with winds gusting to 20 mph. Unfortunately, we aren’t looking at a lot of rain, but hopefully we’ll get enough to settle the dust, at least.

THE WEEKEND: Slight rain chances will continue through the weekend with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. The best chance of rain after Thursday night should come our way Saturday. Again, we aren’t looking at a lot of rain, but hopefully we can get enough to at least rid ourselves of the dust.

FURTHER OUT: It looks like our weather pattern might begin to change, to a somewhat “cooler” (or, at least, less hot) and somewhat wetter pattern as we get into the Sept. 16-18 timeframe.

TROPICAL WATCH: No tropical cyclone activity is expected in the Atlantic for at least the next seven days, as an abnormally quiet hurricane season continues to unfold.

TODAY: Pinnacle Resource Center’s food pantry will open at 9:15 a.m. today (Jeffers Road, Huntsville). There are no income guidelines; however, a photo ID and a piece of mail with a Scott County address are required. The Scott County Senior Citizens Center (Main Street, Oneida) will offer exercise from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Scott County Commission will meet in an organizational session at 5 p.m. at the Scott County Office Building in Huntsville. Boy Scout Troop 333 will meet at the War Memorial Building in Oneida at 6 p.m. Wall Builders will meet from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church (1611 Glass House Road, Helenwood) for those struggling with addiction or striving to keep off drugs. There will be preaching, teaching, food, fellowship and personal counseling. Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. at the Highway 27 Unity Club (17737 S. Alberta Street, Oneida). In sports, Scott High soccer will be at Anderson County at 7 p.m.
