WEDNESDAY WEATHER: Today will be very much like yesterday — mostly sunny and warm. We’ll top out around 87° this afternoon, before dropping to about 67° overnight. Tomorrow will be slightly warmer than today, with a slight chance of thunderstorms. There’s a better chance of rain Thursday night, as a cold front approaches the region.

THE WEEKEND: We may actually have pretty decent rain chances this weekend. It’s been a while! There’s currently about a 50% chance of rain Friday and a 60% chance of rain Saturday. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s. We aren’t talking about a ton of rain, but with any luck, we’ll see half an inch of rain or a little more, which should be enough to settle the dust. We’re in the dry season now, so we’ll take anything we can get! Sunday will see a lesser chance of rain.

NEXT WEEK: Slight thunderstorm chances and temperatures in the mid 80s will continue into next week. Overall, it looks like our weather pattern will trend toward slightly “cooler” temperatures and slightly better rain chances than what we seen to start the month.

FURTHER OUT: We’re still watching for a pattern change that will begin our stair-step into autumn. We’d hoped this might happen around Sept. 18. Now it’s looking like it might be closer to Sept. 21-22. At some point, it will occur. It’s just a matter of when.

TROPICAL WATCH: No tropical storms are expected in the Atlantic for at least the next seven days.

TODAY: The Scott County Senior Citizens Center (Main Street, Oneida) will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $7 for dine-in or carry-out. Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 12 p.m. at the Highway 27 Unity Club (Alberta Street, Oneida). The Scott Appalachian Industries Senior Center (Monticello Pike, Huntsville) will host Golden Grooves Exercise at 1 p.m.
